I can only describe the Pirate 10 as, insane...

What were Ofna/Hobao on when they came up with this thing!

The truck is able to wheelie on small bumps, does over 60mph (see video section), is tough enough to withstand minnor impacts and all in a 1/10th scale truck. What more could you want!
The truck is powered by the superb Hyper 21 engine which is excellent for the price. (The same engine that powered my Dominator until I wanted a bit more power) Ofna claims it puts out 2.1Hp, which is more than enough to move this car. My hyper is still running after it has had nearly 10 Gallons (uk, 45Litres) of fuel!
Specs;
- Hyper 21 4 port Pull start Engine on Femca pipe
- Lightened clutch shoes and running leading edge
- Acoms Radio Gear
- 2 spray fade effect shell (which looked awesome when new)
When the truck was being run-in, we noticed the front wheels expanded as the power was unloaded to the front wheels, rather than spinning all four constantly. It was quiet funny to see as the car approached 40mph and the front tires ballooned to double the size! This was easily fixed by locking the center differential (spooling the diff). See tips and Tricks section for how to do this.
The only weak point on the car seems to be the front CVA driveshafts. If a front wheel is caught on the ground in a cartwheel (which is not un-common for this truck!) then the axle tends to shear-off at the outer hub bearing. This has been fixed in later version and on this one by replacing the front plastic knuckles with aluminium ones.
I've seen this truck do cartwheels at 30mph, wheels fly off and keep on rolling! and wheelies that have gone horribly wrong (I did say the shell looked nice when new! not now though!). But this truck still amazes me. Its a fast, fun truck.
Recently we have tried regular 2.2" truck tires on this car. The results were suprising. The low end improved a huge amount, its now capable of doing a wheelie from standing still and jumps alot more controlably.

A Wheelie bar is an absolute must for this car, as it is too easy to flip the truck backwards on it's self.
Chassis braces:

Chassis braces have been added to the front shock tower to prevent it from bending in a crash. A length of steel rod has been bolted to the shock tower and top plate.
This is the truck that features in our Pirate 10 Speed Test video, check it out in the video section.
