MP/Savage Hybrid Truck

Well after 2 weeks on and off, of putting together and planning this project, its complete (pretty much). I wanted to modify my monster pirate/dominator to accept Savage Suspension and arms. Also I would have to use savage dogbone driveshaft system as the arms are a lot WIDER than the mp. To do this I have had to make custom bulkheads to fit the arms, essentially modifiying the stock mp ones and making a top arm pin brace. I had to fabricate some new shock towers and stands for the 8 shocks to be mounted on. The drivecups and axles were a big issue as the savage dogbones ball is larger than the ofna bones. They had to be ground out using the dremel and a grind stone until they fitted smoothly. The chassis edges under the suspension arms had to be cut back to allow the arms to hang down at full length.

Its not fully completed yet as it's only in 2wd mode because I am still waiting on the front axles from the Hyper 7 buggy. Never the less, just the other day I tested my truck in the local car park in its present condition. Very surprising results, the truck is hugely more stable on high speed cornering and sits proud from the ground about 4". Plus I love the 2 speed, I've got it just right so that the second gear engages at 3/4 throttle. Its like an overdrive, the minute it hits second, it's gone! I run out of room very fast even though the car park is about a 1/4 mile long.

The width of the truck is HUGE, 18" from tire edge to tire edge. I have not extended the chasis yet, so its like a square. Compared to the stock dom its about a tire width more either side. I still have my Rb WS7 engine coupled with a new 2 speed unit, geared for high torque as i already have the speed from the RB. I have had to upgrade the shock springs to the super firm purple ones to get the full ride height. The truck weighs about 5Kg, the same weight as the stock dom I think, so I haven't gained or lost weight.

As far as I am aware, I am the first person to do this modification. I have called my hybrid MP Unlimited because it builds on the original strengths of the mp/dom (drivetrain) and "updates" it to 8 shocks with super plush savage suspension. I can't wait to see how it jumps.

But enough of me talking, heres the proof!!
