I was browsing through Modelsport UK's website one night and came across this engine. I had been looking for a new engine for awhile to replace my worn Rb WS7. I thought this is exactly what the dominator needed, so the engine was ordered. It arrived the following morning....
Once the box was opened, I saw how huge the crankcase was compared to my rb and hyper 21. I thought this is never going to fit. But sure enough the engine fitted into the space, until I tried to actually mount it.
I found the backplate sits lower than the crankcase bottom which made it impossible to fit using the standard mounts. The answer was to make up some 4mm thick aluminium shims to fit under the engine mounts to raise them off the chassis allowing me to fit the engine.
Once in and fired up, I preceeded to go through the run in process, again. After 6 painful tanks of waiting, it was time to tune it for power and see what it could do.
I was amazed at how fast the engine was. It was able to top out the two speed unit and move about 55mph. Faster than my ws7 could pull the gears. The low end power was phenominal. At a stab of the gas the truck would flip on to its back. I even tried the truck with the original chunky MP tires and still does this. Although at high speed the car tends to get a bad case of the wobbles!

I will be featuring it in a brand new video shortly that i'm currently putting together.
