My Pets
Rabbit:
Visitor, Meet our Rabbit!
This guy is quite a character. You may have already noticed him in some of the RC Car pictures in the background!
We leave him to run free during the day in our enclosed garden and put him in a hutch in the evening. He's just over 2 years old and they live till 7 or so.
As far as I know he is a Netherland Dwarf Rabbit. He has silky smooth grey/white fur which changes throughout the months.
Yes he likes crackers too!
They are extremely lovely pets, far better than dogs in my opinion. As you don't have to take it for walks or clean up crap (not that many dog owners do round here). They are also extremely intelligent!
He also comes and sits with you when your working in the shed. But disappears fast when you turn on the high voltage equipment!
My Tropical Fish Aquarium: (click to Enlarge photos)
My current setup is a Fluval 600 Deep tank. I have kept freshwater tropical fish for just over a year now and have a nice collection at present.
The tank contains:
- 1 Pleco Sailfin Lepard Gibbicep (I call him Gibbi for short), now 20cm long!
Gibbi, with sailfin down (as he's scared)
- 2 Angel fish, 1 marbel 1 Veil; always fighting
- 1 Peppered Cory, use to have 3 but died for some reason so now he's on his own
This guy is pretty hard to photograph, so this is one I found on google.
- 2 Penguin Tetras
- 1 Red eye Tetra
- 1 unknown orange Tetra
They all live quite hapilly together, but the Gibbicep is the king of the tank.
I use a Fluval 2 plus pump, 100W heater and a Fluval Duo light hood.
The food; Algae Wafers for the big guy, Tetra Prima for Angels and Flake for the rest.
Apparently the Gibbicep will live for 10-15 years!. Don't know what I'm going to do with him!
Our Hamster (Norman):
This hamster has now passed on about a year ago. But I thought he deserved a mention under the pets section.
His name was Norman (the best we could come up with I think) and he was nearly 3 years old.
(Doing what he did best!)
(My brother holding Norman)
I don't exaclty know what type of hamster he was, but we rarely saw him up before midnight. What a great way to live! Sleep all day and get up after 12pm to eat and go back to sleep!
As I recall he enjoyed Celery, Carrot, Pumpkin seeds, penuts, raisans and crackers.
They are quite fun to watch while they stuff there cheeks with food or tissue paper! They look like they've swallowed a golf ball!
